And so it all began with a photo booth ...

It is Tuesday, November 4, 2014. In a few days, on November 7, I will be the wedding photographer at the marriage of my sister-in-law and her soon-to-be husband. Being a wedding photographer is my job, which I combine with running my advertising agency. I am a creative person who is always brimming with ideas, a kind of machine that is constantly hatching new plans.

That also happened in that particular week, a few days before the wedding. The idea arose to arrange a photo booth for the wedding. But yes, I already had all the equipment myself, so why rent a photo booth? Couldn't I create something myself? I found a picture of someone from America who had 'converted' a cardboard box into a photo booth. Very simple, very fun.

A Photo Booth In A Cardboard Box!

Let's take stock... a camera on a tripod... a laptop... a photo printer... it had to be a large box. I couldn't find a box in a suitable size. Tuesday had passed, and time was running out.

Wednesday morning, I was at the hardware store for a few wooden planks. If no box is available, I'll just make my own 'box' out of wood. Then I used the jigsaw to cut a hole for the laptop and a hole where the photo printer could stand. A cloth over the top... and... voila... the photo box was ready!

A designer at the office designed and printed some logos and signs that afternoon. So, on Wednesday afternoon around 5 o'clock, we stuck the signs on the 'box'. Done!

The-Friday-During-The-Wedding-Success-Moment

Yes, yes, the real success moment was around 2 PM when the bride and groom said their vows. But the use of the photo booth shared the top spot with success moments that day. It was a MEGA success, far beyond my expectations. Hilarious and unforgettable. The photo booth was occupied all evening, with people eager to slip behind the curtain.

The 'Box' Became A Real 'Photo Booth'

A set of plain wooden planks and a curtain on a flimsy rod are, of course, not suitable to set up at your wedding. In the weeks following the wedding, we spent many hours fine-tuning the Do It SelfieBox. It became a cool, contemporary, and attractive-looking photo booth. Call it what you will: a retro photo booth, a vintage photo booth, a hipster photo booth, it fits all these descriptions. Whatever you think of it: it is guaranteed to be an asset to any party!
